This Article Is For:

  • All users who have the 'Manage Website Settings' permission
  • This is applicable to the SoCast 2.0 Theme and Hero 1.0 Theme
  • This is applicable to: Single Tenant & Multi-Tenant Clients

Notes:

  • In most cases you can use the same Raw Stream URL for your Mobile app as you do for the desktop player. We do have some clients who opt to use separate stream URLs for tracking and reporting purposes with their Streaming provider.
  • All Audio Streams MUST be secure over HTTPS protocol 

Set up instructions

  1. Go to: http://admin.socastsrm.com/player

  2. Player Streams: Configure the settings for your stream.
    1. For Single-tenant: 
    2. For Multi-tenant users, configure the individual settings for each stream  Drag to re-order the display of streams in the player. (To get more streams, contact your SoCast client service representative)

    1. Add Stream: Click the blue 'Add Stream' button to add a stream
    2. Stream Information: This is where you enter your station's vital information
      1. Name: Enter your station's name with a max of 25 characters. (ex. CFMI Rock 101). This is a mandatory field. The "Name" in the Streaming Radio Player stream editor is also used as the station name in the mobile app (News & Multi-Tenant configuration).
      2. Call Letters: Enter your station's call letters. This is a mandatory field.
  5. Stream Formats Web: The SoCast player supports the following 3 streaming formats, AAC Audio, MP3 Audio or M3U8. The SoCast player will determine what the best one is to use based on the browser the listener is using, so filling in all 3 URLs if your streaming provider can supply you with them is ideal. Please ask your streaming provider for:
    1. AAC Audio Stream URL: Supports AAC format directly or within a M3U playlist or Shoutcast PLS wrapper
    2. MP3 Audio Stream URL: Supports MP3 format directly or within a M3U playlist or Shoutcast PLS wrapper
    3. M3U8 Audio Stream URL: Supports MP3 or AAC formats using the HLS streaming protocol within an M3U8 wrapper

  7. Stream Formats Mobile App: These fields are mandatory only if you have the mobile app. If not, you can skip this section. Please ensure that you ask your streaming providers for the following:

    1. iOS Audio Stream URL:Supports raw AAC or MP3 format streams as a direct URL or in a M3U playlist or Shoutcast PLS wrapper. Please note that M3U8 streams are not supported. Must be iOS Compatible.

    2. Android:Supports raw AAC or MP3 format streams as a direct URL or in a M3U playlist or Shoutcast PLS wrapper. Please note that M3U8 streams are not supported. Must be Android Compatible.

  9. Stream Selection Display: Configure the settings for how your streams will appear.
    1. Square Logo: Appears in the square logo area of the stream selection list for the SoCast web player and mobile app, and in the main display area of the navigation menu for the mobile app when the stream is selected.
      1. Dimensions: Max. Size 300px by 300px.
      2. Format: PNG with transparent background.
      3. Will use account logo if not provided.
    1. Horizontal Logo: Appears in the branding bar for the mobile app when the stream is selected.
      1. Dimensions: Max. Size 315px by 100px
      2. Format: PNG with transparent background
      3. Will use ’Square Logo’ above if not provided.
    1. Genre: Max. 35 characters. Appears in in the stream selection list for the SoCast web player and mobile app, and in the main display area of the navigation menu for the mobile app when the stream is selected.
  13. Click the 'Save' button.
