How Do I Create A Comments Blacklist?

This Article Is For:

  • All users who have the 'Manage Comments' permission
  • This is applicable to: All Themes

Note

As a reminder the ‘Comments’ section blacklist does not work the same at the ‘Activity Stream’ blacklist, you are unable to use wildcards in the comments blacklist and asterisk, slashes and plus signs are treated as literal characters.

When a comment contains any of the blacklisted words in its content, name, URL, e-mail or IP address, it will be marked as spam. One word or IP per line. It will match inside words, so "press" will match "WordPress"

Step-by-step guide

  1. Go to: Admin.socastsrm.com
  2. Go to the 'Website' tab
  3. Within the drop-down menu choose 'Comments'
  4. On the right hand side under the 'Discussion Settings' Tab, go to 'Comment Blacklist'

  5. Add any words you would like blacklisted.
  6. Attached below is a blacklist created by WordPress that you may download and use if you do not wish to create your own. Please copy it exactly as it, and paste it into the comment blacklist section
  7. Click 'Save'
